Unexpected Find

As I mentioned in this post, I am very into dainty jewelry these days.  I am constantly on the search for delicate rings, bangles and necklaces.  At a wedding a few months ago, I came across this lovely menu ring and decided that it was pretty enough to wear as a jewelry ring.  While it of course is not real gold (or let alone metal for that matter) it works great because I can adjust it for whatever finger I want to wear it on.  Since it has become an everyday staple in my wardrobe, I thought I would share this unexpected find with everyone else.  Do you have any unexpected finds in your closet?  xx

Summer Funk

Piperlime is tpically my go-to shoe shop since they always seem to have amazing sales on a unique selection of shoes you can't always find in the store.  Since I wanted to bring some funk to my current shoe collection, I decided to purchase a pair of new flat sandals (with a pop of color), a pair of dressy chunky heels, and a neutral summer wedge (with some tribal pattern detailing).  While it may seem a bit excessive to buy 3 new pairs of summer shoes, I can assure you my old sandals had seen better days.  xx

Sheer Fun

As I mentioned in my last post, I wanted to continue sharing some of my recent purchases.  In case you can't tell, I am a big fan of sheer blouses.  Since I felt my collection could use some updating, I wanted to make sure I had a wide variety for spring, summer and into fall.  This included blouses in prints, bright colors, and a pajama style.  They can be layered under blazers or cardis for work, or worn alone with a lacy bandeau underneath for the weekend.  Since I was able to find several options at some very fair price points, I have shared the links of where I found each blouse below.  Enjoy!  xx

Sweater Holes

Sweaters: Anemone Boutique; Topin Hamptons Pullover

The past few weeks have been a non-stop shopping spree to update my spring and summer wardrobe.  Because of this, the next few posts will be dedicated to the purchases I have recently made.   My first feature will be on my newfound love of mesh or crochet sweaters this season.  This type of piece is a great investment because it can be used for every warm-weather occasion.  Whether it's as a cozy cover-up for late afternoons on the beach or dressed up with a pleated mini, it works every time.  I wanted to be sure I had both a neutral and colorful option since I think both of these pieces could extend into fall.  I wanted the photos to portray the intricate knitting details of the sweaters, while also letting some sunshine through.  xx

Artful Heels

Zara Sandal

I recently purchased these blue beauties on a Zara shopping spree.  While they clearly aren't for everyday wear, they were too pretty to leave on the shelf.  The vibrant colors will look great with white skinnies for daytime or a black midi skirt for night.  When I took them out of the box, they looked so pretty sitting on my side table that I decided to snap some pics with them in different settings all over our living room.   I featured a few of my favorite shots in today's post.  Enjoy!  xx

Cinco de Mayo

I hope everyone had a great Cinco de Mayo weekend!  We hosted a party to celebrate the perfect margarita-filled holiday, which was an absolute blast.  Due to a crazy busy work schedule the past few weeks, I had to pick festive party items that were easy to make the day of (including decor).  Most notable were a DIY Papel Picado, Strawberry Margarita Cupcakes, Mexican Appetizer Cups, Cheesy Chili Bean Dip and plenty of Margaritas.  The Papel Picado was so easy to create that I wanted share the simple steps for anyone who may be hosting a themed party this summer (see below photos for details).  I ended up making a few in varying lengths to put in doorways and around the drink tub.  As for the margarita cupcakes, while I admit I was weary about the recipe (it called for tequila in both the batter AND the frosting), they actually tasted delicious.  My recommendation for the appetizer cups is to make a double batch because they go FAST.  Later on in the night we brought out some fun mustache drink props (see visuals below), which definitely made for hilarious spontaneous photo ops.  Did you do anything fun for Cinco de Mayo?  xx

Supplies: Brightly colored tissue paper, Scissors, Twine, Glue or Tape

Step 1:  Cut tissue paper into squares that are roughly 5 x 7 inches
Step 2: Clip one end of tissue squares and cut thin strips up to 2/3 the length of the paper
Step 3:  Unclip and add glue to un-cut edge (about an inch or so down)
Step 4:  Fold glue side over twine; repeat until desired length is reached

Spring Nails

Clockwise from top left: Dior Bright Coral Pink; Chanel Tendresse; Butter London Artful Dodger;
OPI Thanks A Windmillion; NARS Kutki; Essie Turquoise & Caicos; Sephora by OPI Read My Palm;

I am very over-delayed on this post (and a post in general recently) so I apologize to my friend who asked me to put together my favorite spring nail polish picks a few weeks ago!  In case you can't tell by the collage, I am absolutely loving anything coral and seafoam/mint this season.  While these color choices are certainly not limited to nails for me, I do think they are perfect for those of us who might be a little more timid on playing with color.  For me both of these hues somehow act as neutrals because they look appropriate for any occasion.  Coral and mint also offer a great range of color options since they are colors that share from multiple color families (coral can take an orangey or pink tone, while mint can appear as either blue or green).  While I only actually own a handful of these polishes (I swear by Essie's Turquoise and Caicos), I have a feeling my collection will be growing soon.  What is your favorite nail color this season?  xx
