Summer Travel Basics

With the 95+ degree temperatures in NYC this week, summer has officially arrived.  Like most other people in the city, my weekends are filled with travel to try and escape the heat!  Since I have been living out of a suitcase, I wanted to share my staple travel items that always make the packing cut, no matter what the occasion.  Whether I am traveling by car, train, or plane, I always wear my black maxi skirt, chambray shirt, and scarf combo.  Since I like to pack as light as possible (I have been known to pack 8 days worth of outfits into one duffel), I always choose to wear shoes that are comfy but are also stylish enough to be worn outside of the train terminal.  I also make sure to pack a carry on (or purse) that can serve as my beach bag.  Within this bag, I keep my favorite magazine, SPF gloss, and a punchy pink nail polish. Thanks to my mom's advice growing up, I always throw in a bathing suit just in case travel gets delayed and I need to get to the beach stat!  What are some of your summer travel essentials?  xx

Little Black Classic

Aaaaand we are back!  Sorry for the lack of posting but I promise I have been putting together some great things to share.  Last week, I went to Karl Lagerfeld's "Little Black Jacket" exhibit and was completely blown away.  The space consisted of 113 photos of various artists, models, actors, muses and even a nun wearing Chanel's very famous Little Black Jacket.  All of the photographs were taken by Karl Lagerfeld (naturally) and each one portrayed the jacket in a different fashion.  Due to minimal PR, I was actually told about the exhibit from a friend who works within the industry.  The lack of publicity did however make the space very easy to navigate through.  As you can tell from this post, there were also no limitations on photographs, which I certainly took advantage of.  Unfortunately the exhibit has already moved onto the next city (Taipei) and will end its city tour in Paris in the fall.  It is here that the book this event is based on will be released to the public for sale.  For more details on this fantastic work of art, you can visit the website here.  Enjoy!

This was the sight I saw walking home on Friday and I absolutely loved it.  A perfectly aligned display of male and female dress forms lined up on the street.  It was the perfect way to kick off a lovely summer weekend.  xx

Subway Inspired

I could not help but admire a fellow subway rider's shoes today.  And while some may find this a little creepy, I adored them so much that I decided to take a picture of them to share with all of you.  As you can see, the shoes were mesh oxfords, which I thought were a perfect alternative for everyday sandals in the summer.  I of course have now been scouring the internet trying to find a replica of these bad boys, but sadly have not had any success so far.  This is another one of the moments where I find myself wishing I had just asked this random stranger where she purchased her shoes.  What are the chances I will ever see her again?  You never know in this city...xx
